From their modern home partway up Tiger Hill, the Rail Trail's steepest section, Brenda and David could see how much of a struggle it was for cyclists and walkers, especially those who had started out at Clyde and now had tired legs and painful bottoms. Rather than just offer encouragement, Brenda and David have opened their home as The Magdelans Bed and Breakfast.

Named after the nearby Magdelans Range, there is accommodation for four in two lovely bedrooms (queen and two singles), private bathroom and lounge (with Sky TV and a selection of DVDs). But staying at The Magdelans is more than a way to face Tiger Hill with morning fresh legs --- as guests you get the use of the swimming pool (a summertime treat), enjoy a complimentary bottle of Central Otago Pinot Noir and have the choice of a continental breakfast (included in the tariff) or for $10 a person, a full Irish breakfast.

Then there are the views. Stunning. Amazing. The main reason why Brenda and David chose to build where they have. Evening meals are available at Chatto Creek Tavern (2km away) - transport provided. Why not stay an extra night and enjoy one of many possible guided walks exploring the surrounding area - beautiful all year round. Brenda and David advise The Magdelans Bed and Breakfast is not best suited for anyone 'allergic' to dogs.
